Finding Scholarly Articles Using ArticlesPlus:
Lorraine Wochna starts off showing viewers how a scholarly article, or peer article, is structured. The structure should include a title, the authors, an abstract, introduction, article text, conclusion, and references. She then shows how to specify our search by viewing articles in the "Refine Your Results" section. Refining a search narrows down the amount of articles related to a search. The Articles are able to be viewed in a PDF or anywhere else in the library database.
How To Find A Book In The Alden Library:
Librarian, Chad Boeninger uses ALICE to find a book in the Alden Library. He points out that typing in small key words, with "and" between them, will make finding a useful book a much easier task. Once you find the book, you must write down the call number and find out which floor the book is located on. If you want, you can continue your search by looking at the subjects list, which shows similar top choices. Once you get to the correct floor, different aisles are marked with certain call numbers. When you find the book you were looking for, you will be able to find several other books similar to your topic. You can check out any of those books, at the information desk, with your student ID.
Find Full Text With Citation:
Chris Guder tells viewers to look at the citation and find the author, year of publication and the title. Next, you click on ALICE and switch the search to "periodic title," then type in the title of the article. Once you do this, the electronic and/ or paperback will show up. When you click on the choice you prefer, you choose which date, volume and issue number that goes with the article. By clicking this, you should be able to find your article. Unfortunately, there are some books that Alden does not have in stock. If you need one, you can fill out a request, found on the library home page, and it will be scanned and sent to you for free.
How to Request a Book from OhioLink:
Chad Boeninger explains how to request a book if it is checked out or unavailable via Ohio Link. To do this, you have to click on "ohiolink," make sure there are copies around the state of Ohio, click Request under Library Holdings, log in with Ohio ID, choose the Athens location, and hit submit. The book should arrive in about three business days.
